1st AKC Novice JWW leg!

3rd time IS the charm! With a time of 31.55, SCT being 40, under judge Blair Kelly, Mag not only Q'd but got 1st place as well!! I'm so proud of him! I messed him up on the weaves but in Novice refusals don't count as long as you go back to the weaves so we Q'd. He growled at a few dogs, but I got him to focus before we went into the ring. He did awesome, and got a new tennis ball which he loves.

I also bought a pair of jump cup strips and a really cute t-shirt that has weave poles on it and says 'Carpe Weavem Seize the Weaves!

Back from the beach and back to training!

Just got back from my vacation in a condo at the beach in Florida. Had a great time, but missed my Labbies! So now it's back to the training grindstone as there's only 24 days left until the next AKC trial!

For Magnum, I'm gonna do several handling drills to get back in the swing of things, but also continue to do conditioning. He's coming along great and I really think we have a chance of FINALLY getting a Q in AKC! Let's hope we do!

Hoss is still in 'basic' training for agility. I'm gonna really start working on focusing and COME!. He's gotten better, but not really where I want him to be. He's gonna be a great jumper, his vertical jump is over 4 feet! Let's hope he turns out as good, if not better than his father!

Coming up: August AKC trial

We've yet to get a Q in the first 2 AKC trials we've been in, but they say the 3rd time's the charm, so we're looking to get Magnum's first leg towards his NAJ. He's gotten much better and is back to his old self, the HGE took alot out of him and at the last AKC trial I think he dropped the bar because he just wasn't fully recovered yet. But now he's looking great, and jumping well. I've changed him to a new food, and been giving him Prozyme. It's seemed to help. I bet he'll do well August 21st, he loves agility.

Hoss is doing good. He's growing! He's not going to be as big as his Dad though, just a little bigger than his mother I think.. I've been trying to work with him more, since he's my next agility dog. He seems to like it pretty well, as long as food or a toy is around.

We've decided not to breed Avalon and Magnum this year, so sorry to those that were interested in a pup. We just don't have the time this summer to properly care for and look after the pups.

2 Weeks until next trial!

There's only 2 weeks until Magnum's next agility trial:) It's an AKC this time, and I'm sure he'll do amazing. I've been kinda giving him a break lately. Not doing much, just some jump sequences, although this week I think I'm gonna go back to lead changes. Just to get our footwork down. Also probably some rear and front crosses.

Hoss is doing good. I took him to our local 'festival' to get him used to dogs and people, and he was sooo good! He was a little nervous at first, but curiousity got the better of him, and he was really happy:) One step closer to our agility dreams!

I'm also ordering Mag and Hoss agility leashes. Mag's is gonna be flame print and Hoss' is braided lime and tourquoise fleece. I'm sure they'll love them!

Mag's first NADAC trial!

Magnum was awesome at his second trial EVER! We ran in Novice Tunnelers and Jumpers.

In Tunnelers he had a time of 37.76, standard course time being 38.75(barely made it! BOL) with 4.10 YPS. Which was amazing! He would have had a better time, but he was so fast I couldn't give directions fast enough!! So my fault Mag! Not only did we Q, but got 3rd place too!!

In Jumpers his time was 21.94, the standard course time being 30.67 with 5.24 YPS. Again amazing!! So we Q'd, and got 2nd place!!

I'm just sooo happy we Q'd and then to place in only his second trial:) I can't wait for the next NADAC!

P.S. I added a pic of Mag with his ribbons and plan on adding some pics of him at the trial. Also added new pics on Hoss' and Avalon's page.

Getting serious about agility

One of my "New Years Resolutions" is to really start trialing in dog agility with Magnum. I'm soo excited about it! I know he'll do well, and can't wait to start. I also plan on saving money and buying REAL weave poles since Mag is such a fast weaver, he bends and breaks PVC ones that I make. I also hope to put at least one title on him this year. I think if we work hard it'll happen, even if it doesn't he's still a great dog and my best friend:)

8/26/09 Litter all have homes!

All of the puppies from our August 26th litter have homes! I have heard from several of their owners, and they say they're doing great! I think we found good homes for all of our puppies, including Hoss! He's gotten so big, and he has his mother's eyes:) I hope for him to be a showdog, but if not he'll definitely be competing in something.

Puppies are 5wks!

The puppies turned 5wks old this past Wednesday, September 30, 2009. They've gotten so big since the 26th of August. We bought a few collars to put on the puppies to tell them apart. We took some pictures the other day, so I'll try to get them on here soon. They're eating Puppy Chow without almost any water now, so by the end of this week they should be eating dry puppy food.
